FYI, four packs of CVS ISO 200 and 400 are on sale this week for $5.99 which comes out to $1.50 per 24 exposure roll. The general consensus seems to be that Fujifilm is the manufacturer for this film since it states "Made in Japan" on the box. I bought some of the 400 to feed my XA.

I sure hope not, but I think CVS will be selling c-41 film for a while. I must say that I'm always shocked to see that they still carry Tri-X at CVS. I don't like the price, but occasionally, I buy a 24 exposure roll from there for two reasons: 1) I often only want a 24 exposure roll when pushing Tri-x to 1600 so they are nice to have around, and 2) I have a perhaps misguided hope that my small contribution to the continuing sales of the product will mean that they keep stocking it.
 
Those are good prices for the film, but if you have your film processed and scanned at Costco, 36 exp. rolls make up for cheap film in many cases.

I take all my C-41 to Costco for developing (and I scan at home), so in this case, I'll be saving on both the film and development. Though this particular film isn't ideal for every circumstance, neither is any other film regardless of its price or what market segment it is being directed toward.

If my local CVS in Park Slope is anything to judge by, I wouldn't worry: they actually bothered to upgrade their 1-hour photo department with new equipment, and their processing has been pretty solid, as well as their turnaround (usually 1-2 hours for my stuff), and the staff doesn't give me funny looks when I request "no prints, and please don't cut the rolls." Normally I just hit Adorama or B & H for restocking, but in a pinch, I grab something from the CVS rack.
