Well-known
Found a mixed set of gear on FB marketplace this week. A bit of a gas-out as I needed none of it but did not want it to pass into lesser hands.
Primary interest was in the body and lens:
Pentax SV with original light meter and hot shoe. (Green R)
Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm f2 M42 (Pre-Set, 12 blade, Q1 mark)
The SV pentaprism finish has suffered from damage from the decayed foam on the underside of the light meter. Will take some TLC to restore. Otherwise it is still firing reliably.
Unfortunately as this is the early version of the SV my Biotar interferes with the mirror and doesn't fit on this body.
Will try on my Pentax ESII.
The Biotar is stiff, very stiff closer to infinity and has a few small chips in the front lens.
Based on internet lore it seems worth repair.
I found some well written Biotar 58mm DIY instructions online but have never actually cleaned and lubed a lens before. Repaired camera bodies, flashes, film winders, cars, computers, yes. Lenses, no.
As far as these things go, is this lens more challenging than average?
Is it worth repairing? (I did not pay much but I do not want to bugger-up a classic if I can avoid)
Am I better off sending it out to an expert?

Since you‘ve got a repair manual I‘d gibe it a try. Just document every step and use non organic lubricant.
