if the rumor is true, Nikon really marches new models in fast pace to markets these days. expensive hobby, if one always wants "latest and greatest".

Keywords here: video mode. They have been claiming since Robert Capa's time that video will soon make still photography obsolete. I maintain that they are two completely different media. A machine designed to do one, will do the other with major compromises.

Video mode, live view, dust reduction... imo all this extra technology just means more moving parts that can fail in the end. :bang:

Yeah, that's why the M8 was dead reliable. Didn't have all this stuff

Yeah, but look at the F5 as compared to previous Fs. Feature pile-on is something Nikon does with an advancing series. Discount the F6, which actually scaled back on features (at least the ones I liked!) The F6 was not really designed to be a camera for working photographers, but rather for well heeled 'serious shooters who need not make a living from photography'.
I expect Nikon to add features to the D# series until they branch off in a new direction, whatever that may be.

What ISO is that 120,400? Can they just put S, VS, VVS, SS, SDS after 6400? I mean really... The ISO numbers will reach into the millions in a few years of digital development. They should use something else for digital

The D3S already goes to ISO 102.400 (uncalibrated), the D4 would have to do better. Nice if you like taking pictures in the dark.

Just to let you know
I read somewhere time ago (already 6 - 12 months ago) that a new kind of light-sensitive material (called black silicon if I'm not wrong) has been discovered and filed for future uses. It was said to be FROM 100 TO 500 TIMES MORE SENSITIVE to light than actual materials

Gee... They will need to improve these ND filters now..

Who stole my light?
From a leak last summer that predicted the D300s, the new 18-200 II and the 70-200 VR II, the info i have about the D4 is 15.7mp, 11fps, 61point AF, 1080p video, an extra stop of light sensitivity compared to the D3s or 1.5 stops compared to the D3/ D700. The interesting bit is about a new exposure mode that can increase the fps to 16fps or combine frames to increase the dynamic range... or some mumbo jumpo like that.

From a number of apparently surprised reviewers, the D3s apparently really does have an ISO IQ performance improvement of two stops over the already amazing D3. Given that, what I'm really looking for is the trickle-down of the ISO and IQ capabilities to more affordable bodies.

We're all light!
Went through all the comments on that site's thread. Ouch...makes the most juvenile food-fights over here look like reasoned discourse. And I won't even get into the level of technological turnover regarding the subject at hand.
Early yesterday (Wednesday), I was meeting a new tech client in a local Starbucks to look over his PC laptop. While there, a woman walked in with a D3 with the PJ-standard, big-ass short zoom. I can't imagine dragging anything nearly that big around anymore. This is progress in the digital realm?
