Today my dad came up to me and said "Hey did I ever show you my dad's old cameras?" I thought by now he would have shown these things to me! They're not Leicas or anything, but still a fun find!

The first is a Kodak Motormatic 35 and is absolutely incredible shape.. better than any camera I own now! The viewfinder is perfectly clean, the meter works smoothly, and the wind-up motor thingy seems to operate. What's even cooler is that there was a roll of film in there! I wound it from where it was at and plan to process it. Will it still come out being so old? The film is Kodak Kodacolor 400, apparently c-41.

The other is a tin can of a camera, an Ansco Clipper. It has like two levers and a dial and that's about it! It seems to take some bigger format film, but not 120. Any clue?

Have a great weekend!

How is the Selenium Meter of the Motormatic? If it is the original Motormatic with the leads for the flash on the side, it has a manual over-ride. There is a little inconspicuous dial on the back of the camera that allows you to set the F-Stop.

The Ektanar lens is sharp, and has good contrast. It is a neat camera and used to be run side-by-side with the Retina Auto III in Kodak ads.

If you look at the front of the lens, you will discover that the front ring comes out and reveals a filter holder for Series V filters. They are cheap and plentiful in the camera shows and on Ebay.

The Clipper takes 616. I won one for a movie essay in 1948 but haven't used it in eons and now the film is no longer made. Today my wife and I took a walk in downtown Glens Falls, NY and an antique shop had one even older than mine for fifteen bucks, but mine is mint and who needs either one with no film available. Oh yes Century Camera in Chicago has someone who makes up 616 from 70mm at thirty bucks a roll. Considering that the camera has a two element lens and one speed I can do without the film.
