Daido Moriyama...back to Ricoh :D

If I were to go digital, I think the GR would make more sense than any of the small sensor non-M cameras currently offered by Leica...

i had no idea till a year ago who Daido Moriyama was..
a friend said i ought to look him up!
No wonder. i have always been accused of shooting in a "Japanese style".
a number of different photographers and editors said this..
i see every month the Asahi photo magazine.
Stuff mostly like mine..
Yes! i would love that camera. it would fit.
Many shoot a camera because they admire a style..
HCB, Elliot Erwitt, Ralph Gibson.
Truth a RF or viewfinder camera has it's own special vision.

I want to use the cameras that Keith uses.

You want this camera because someone else uses it?

Not solely because he used it, but because we can see *why* he would use it for the type of photos that we happen to like also.

I bought my GR1s because I see Mr. Moriyama's video and seeing his photos. But after I actually use it, I just grew to love that camera.

It's okay to be inspired by someone else. Since when does that become incredulous around here?

I'm a Ricoh GR owner, so I know its pros. I bought it because it fits what I want out of photography. Even though I like DM's photography, there is no way I could buy a camera just because he uses it, since he photographs in a different way than I do.

I guess I'm suprised people would buy based on being a fan of a photographer instead of being a fan of the camera and the possibilities it offers your photography.

Inspired by a photographer's photography and vision, sure. Inspired by their camera? Not my thing. Just an opinion. Sorry, it differs from yours.

My post wasn't purely meant as serious...BUT...Moriyama returning to a digital version of a camera he preferred says something about the digital implementation of the GR. His return to the tool he's most famous for says a lot about how well the new GR mimics Moriyama's old film Ricoh GRs.

Also...Daido Moriyama (DM) and David Manning (DM)...coincidence? 😀

But these two often tend to be interweaved, don't they? If you're a professional you buy everything you need anyway, but if you're not: chances are one desires Gibson Les Paul not only because he likes its sound and form, but also because he loves Jimmy Page's (for example) playing.
