Many photographers are "seen" with whatever has benefits..
Privately they use something else!Moriyama no different.
I was shooting near a Magnum photographer known for Leica.
He hauled out a non pro Nikon DSLR..😀
Use the tools for the job!
I have used real so called lousy cameras and lenses.
Folks said "Look how sharp, how nice color. If only I had a Leica/Nikon/Canon/Rollei/Hasselblad".
We are all curious, but the real truth eludes us..

He switched from Ricoh to a Nikon point and shoot a while before this. He doesnt care what he uses....andit didnt really matter to him.

For his color work, he was using a Nikon. I saw him lecture at the Japan Society in NYC last year. He went back to using the Ricoh when the GR was released. I have no idea why he switched to Nikon in the first place.

Yep, I remember that...the ricoh fan boys were crushed (honestly, I saw more than a few GRs in the audience).

However, things could have changed since then. He's been seen with the Fuji X10 (or 20) and the Ricoh too.

Hey, if the HK cam works for you...then why not!

That's just wrong :bang:

David, you are right!
A friend of mine was stunned when he accompanied another Magnum on a shoot. In place of the Leica, out came a Nikon with 28mm! The Magnum mentioned needing "more exact framing".
Oh! I was faster in seeing a scene. DAH was sharper..

Funny.

I saw video of David Alan Harvey in Rio shooting both a mid-level Nikon dSLR and a Leica. Makes sense...low-light or fast action, dSLR, thoughtful candid...RF. They really are just tools.

I just like my tools 😀

As an aside (I reserve the right to redirect the thread, since I'm the OP) I've been shooting a Canon EOS M and 22mm prime as a APS-C P&S, and really like it. Plenty of megapixels, 35mm FoV (my favorite) and a surprisingly sharp f2 lens. It's basically a digital Contax T3 for me...though the lens doesn't retract.

Which reminds me...time to get out the door and shoot some compact camera shots!
