Some guy posted a camera on craigslist for $25 from his grandfather's estate. Of course, I emailed him IMMEDIATELY & I was ready to skip work in case he was ready to sell it. I got an email from the seller saying he was confused because he got tons of email from buyers minutes after he posted the ad - some offering amounts higher than asking price. He mentioned on the reply email that he was pulling the ad to do some research on it.

From the looks on the photos he posted, it was close to mint condition. It was a Nikon SP with what looks like a 50mm lens. Bummer.

One of the first places he'll find on the net is this forum. Maybe he will post a reply to this thread himself 😉

I picked up a Nikon M with 5cm f1.4 lens for $30 at an antique shop. Same place that was rude to Nikki. No Guilt.

A later posting in c-list suggested that it was a scam. The photo has one of those little camera logos in the bottom right which made me suspicious. Don't feel bad, I email'd him from Colorado Springs.

You know, you never know.

Yeah, I saw that aftewards. If it's true, the guy really knows how to string photographers.

Actually, I saw a similar ad about 9 months ago. The posted photo was small but it looked like a Nikon S2 or S3 that was selling for $75. Someone got lucky & bought it. I've had several good deals from c-list. I'll just keep lurking.

Why not be a nice guy and offer to help him value it?

I did tell him how much it was worth in a reply email. I recommended that he should go to a camera repair shop & have them evaluate the condition of the camera.

As of this morning, it's starting to look like a hoax.:bang:
