morning folks!
i've been up for hours and am just finishing my first pot of coffee for the day.
it was a fine pot too.
nothing special, no fresh ground beans, just a nice cup of nabob coffee.
but every now and then, the coffee gods seem to smile and a pot just tastes delicious, like everything went perfectly.
just the right amount of grounds mixed with the perfect quantity of water.
just wanted to share...

the snow must go on
Doesn't this mean you will have to pick up a camera and get out shooting? You seem to have a good/lucky day...

except for the snow storm, i'd be thinking that same thing.
i'm starting to think about doing still life work.
i went out yesterday for a bit cause i'm anxious to play with my new 35/2.

Joe... how many cameras do you have left after your recent sales?
BTW, I had a good cup of coffee too... Up since 5:50 AM, when Ben decided to meaow up a storm for no other reason that he just didn't feel good alone.

cats, gotta love 'em...
i have 3 canon bodies, a 7 and 2 p's.
i also have 2 oly 35 rc cameras, one that i will never sell (first good camera) and one with a non working meter. (although the meter was working after a recent cla and then stopped, which leads me to believe that something is just loose inside)
i also have the canon digital g2, great little camera.
and that's it my friend.
now, if someone would just buy that cv 35...

So... I see you've already gotten totally Canonized; hence the need to push the CV out of the inventory.
Good luck with the sale!
BTW, Ben is now sleeping peacefully... and I'm really tempted to go bug the heck out of him. But having done it before, he won't care and will sleep 'till Kingdom comes.
Or until he gets the munchies!

it's part of my endearing neurosis.
once i maake a decision i try to act on it and get it all done as swiftly as possible.
that cv 35 is a great lens and having it in the bag of 'extras' will do no harm.
in fact, i could use it as my snow storm lens for days like today, with the 7...hhmmmm...

A nice way to start the day; sometimes there is nothing better than a good cup of coffee. I hope everyone on the forum has an enjoyable day.backalley photo said:morning folks!

Film is the other way
Good afternoon to the aptly named coffee drinker "Joe" is this a coincidence?
Joe, I love coffee so I know what you mean. Every once in a while everything clicks and; voila there it is the cup we wish for every time, but get once in 25. My favourite is interestingly Nabob Dark City. No longer made in that name they had to change the name but it is just a new package same blend.
I drive a pick-up and when I'm out on the road I pull out my trusty old Coleman white fuel camp stove, put it on the tailgate , pump it up, fire it up, put a coffee pot on it and wait. Shortly the coffee is ready, and as you know, coffee in the open air tastes especially good.
Hmm maybe I should post a shot of the field coffee and equipment. Anyway, glad to hear you hit the coffee making "sweet spot" this morning.
cheers, Jan

Joe, I've seen your pics. Snow, snow, endless snow. Yet, there are people out there, walking skating...incredible. Down here in Arid-zone, if it snows (rarely) one inch bureaucrats freak and cancel school.
Whats with ths "nabob" coffee? Who makes it and where do you get it? Or is it only in Canada?
I feel deprived. All I can get down here is Chichicastanengo Guatemalan. Or Folgers.

nabob is a brand of coffee.
i've never seen it in new york but i can't say with any authority where it is sold.
i do think it's an only in canada kind of thing.
i quite like it. it's an everyman coffee. they also make a better grade with different blends that i also enjoy.
as to the snow, we go out into it.
i took the dog for a walk earlier and i think even she wondered why we were out there.
i drove the 2 blocks to the postal outlet, where i said goodbye to the bessa r and the kiev outfit.

Ted, the best Guatemalan coffee is Antigua. Forget Chichicastenango.
Though... if you're in AZ, maybe you can just reach out for a coffee brand that I consider simply the best: Piñon. It comes from New Mexico, and it has a nice, smooth chocolaty undertone that's to kill for...
Sorry... too late for coffee, but never too late for dreaming.
Tomorrow!!
Another day, another cup of coffee!

Well...I start to dislike coffee. We drink here at work this liquid concentrate-based coffee from an automatic machine... Nothing to die for. At least it's set somewhat stronger than the average dutch coffee, but still, the taste is...so-so.
I tried to convince them to buy a proper coffee machine (read:espresso) but they did not want to. "Too strong to have it everyday" they said
Home, i drink a coffee in the weekends only.

You should have told them that it is healthier to drink espresso rather than filter (percolator?) coffe - the former has more of the good stuff (oils, fragrances, all that stuff that also makes red wines so healthy - hey, I'm no chemist to know exactly what I'm talking about) in it, which gets stuck in the filter with the latter kind; the latter kind has much more acid in it (bad for your stomach); in espresso that acid never makes it into the coffee, since the process is so fast.

I have a good day too, but not because of coffee. I tryed yesterday for several hours to install a second harddrive (SATA 200GB, scratch for photoshop
), but didnt succeed :bang: . Waked in the morning, installd the drive in 1,5 minutes and went to drink a coffee
And the sun is shining

Roman - the filter-type of coffee machines were thrown out 2-3 years ago in favour of this new one based on concentrate liquid coffee. It's just mixing the concentrate with hot water, that's all. I have to say, it IS better than the filter-ones we were drinking before; but it could have to do stg with the quality of the cheap(est!) coffee that was used for the filters.

Oh, you mean that Nespresso stuff? Seems to be popular in corporate surroundings these days, I never tried it myself yet.

Armed with multiple missions, I shall set forth and seek Antigua, Piñon, y Cafe Goya.
But today I must go to worK and teach, in the following order, English 102 (Introduction to Literature), Art 289 (Introduction to Black and White Film Photography) at the nearby college.
Tuesday will be missions day.

Ted, for you and all those coffee drinkers out there, here's one big tip.
Click HERE for Piñon Coffee. Believe me, it's one of life's great pleasures.
Needless to say, I, being a native Guatemalan, long for Antigua coffee, but then, this one has all it takes to get you in a nice, mellow mood when facing your students.
In case anyone's interested, there's an excellent Costa Rican coffee, Doka, sold in the US out of a store in TX.
Have fun! I'll be going home to brew myself another pot of Piñon!
