Hi! I have got a Jupiter 3 and like it very much. Now, I am looking for a ND4 or ND8 filter for it. In the on-line store of "alex-photo", I saw some filters called "Dark H-4x filter M40.5x0.5". Is it how Soviets call a ND4 filter? And some of them are marked "LOMO", with slightly higher price. Are they better than those without the mark?

And, how is the quality of FSU filters?

Thank you!

I have this so-called 'dark filter'- it came free with a J-8. It is also marked "4X". Indeed these are neutral density filters. I've used it on several occasions, when I wanted to use the Jupiters at larger apertures than film speed and lighting situations would allow.

As for quality, the FSU filters are just about as good as their lenses. I have yet to see one which distorts the picture.

As far as I recall, H = N (Cyrillic, remember).

I'd say that their filters are better than their lenses because they're easier to assemble. Thick mounts, though. I have quite a lot in 40,5 and 58mm.

Cheers,

R. (or indeed P)
