Darkrooms in Melbourne

Finally,

on 2 october I will be flying Australia to stay there for a couple of years.
We will be living in Altona Meadows /Victoria close to Melbourne.

Now the question:

Are there darkrooms for rent over there? For the moment it is impossible to move my darkroom to OZ and starting all over again for a few years in a rented house is no option for me.


If not I might go totally digital, would save me a lot of worries.

Hi Wim,
there are a few options in the western suburbs of Melbourne - contact local photographers to hire their facilities, or join a photography club. There was a community darkroom in Yarraville a few years back but I don't know if it still exists. Some schools may have a darkroom for hire as well.
Google search will be a start.

I don't know personally, but get in touch with Athiril (on APUG, not sure if he is on RFF) He is the king of all things film in Melbourne.

Welcome. Get used to using one of the most horrible bridges in the world, the West 'Gate' Bridge ...
So crowded they have removed the emergency lanes and opened them up to more traffic. At least they have finally installed suicide rails after not wanting to spend the dollars for so many years.

Hey, not exactly on topic but thanks non the less 😱

We are used to 250km of traffic congestion every morning and evening so we will feel at home.

I suppose it couldn't hurt to link something I saw on Tumblr. The following post is an example of a temporary darkroom set up in a very small space. I lived in Japan for a while and the bathroom was a lot smaller than the one I was used to back home; I think if an expatriate living in Japan is able to create a temporary darkroom in his bathroom, then I should be able too!
