Dating Leica IIIc by serial number?

I know that I can figure out when some FSU cameras were made by their serial numbering system. Is there a similar system used by Leica to indicate date of manufacture for their Barnack series of cameras? I'm always curious about when some of the older cameras were made. Not from a collector's standpoint, but I would really be pleased and amused to be using a camera as old (or almost as old as) I am.😀
