My Cuban "sort of stepdaughter" as her mother and I are "sort of" married. Marriage is not legally defined process in Cuba as in most countries.

We were on a trip to visit historical places when I insisted we visit La Demajagua, the 1868 birthplace of the original war of independence from Spain. I insisted we take a 2 hour horse wagon ride rather than 10 minutes in a car. My reasoning was so Malena, who is 5, could get to drive the wagon. Within an hour she has learned to to make the horse go, turn left or right, and stop. She thought the wagon trip was much better than putting flowers on Fidel, Jose Marti, and Mariana Grajales' graves.
