Never knew he was the photog who took this until today. Interesting read for older track fans who are jonesing for the Tokyo Olympics we are currently being denied. Zola Budd, Mary Decker.

Thanks for sharing these great pictures. Zola Budd, it's interesting how the mind works but I do remember that name and the event.

Yes, I remember the event well (was watching it live I think) and the photograph too. (I can't read the article.) I felt bad for both of them -- but Mary Decker was the much more experienced runner and frankly, should have taken care to avoid the entanglement. I remember her lashing out at Budd afterward. I understood her frustration (and she was injured besides) but it was not classy.
