This is the good stuff.

I just picked this up today. It's another one of his amazing collections, this time of barns and related farm scenes from predominatly the upper-midwestern US. There is no real theme other than a sort of "zen of barns" but the shots are utterly glorious.

He shoots Hassy and uses the square format exceedinly well. I forget, using my Kievs, just how much I enjoy the way things get framed in a square. His main lens for the book was a Zeiss 50mm (!) though some were done with 100mm, 150mm and 250mm as well.

I also have his book "End of an Era" about the last few steamers working the great lakes.

He has a website at http://www.davidplowden.com and I recommend it as well.

Very neat, thanks for posting the link. Gives me some good ideas to try with barns and bridges.

William, great link, this Photographer is indeed very classic, with his sober square format, spartan and humble tones, he isn't "in betweens" he goes forward a sharp perpective or frontal planes, really does it well shooting scapes and buildings, it's hard to photograph things and transmiting a human message.
I'm glad you shared this with us.
