We have lost an exceptional teacher of black & white film photography.

I think I've read certain sections of "Art of BW Enlarging" and "Craft" 10 or more times. Not only do I read these for Vestals's wonderfully irreverent sense of humour but also his encouragement: to take pictures to please yourself, to not follow the crowd and to take photos simply for the pleasure of taking them.
