My paycheque goes to RFF
I just wanted to let everyone know what a positive experience I had dealing with David Yau of Yau's Camera Service in Scarborough, ON.
On Friday, I received an M6 TTL in otherwise superb condition, but with a faulty shutter release mechanism. On the advice of other forum members here, I contacted David by e-mail, and he agreed to repair my camera on Monday so I could take it on a trip to England the next day (today!).
David was extremely friendly and pleasant to deal with. He went out of his way to work around my crazy schedule on Monday, even altering his own plans so I would be able to pick up the camera later in the evening. The problem was fairly minor, and he repaired it for an extremely reasonable price. When I went to pick up the camera, I discovered he'd also checked the shutter speeds and rangefinder focus alignment for free. I asked him about his CLA rates, and they are also similarly good value. One thing he doesn't do is charge a flat CLA rate for all cameras, so you don't have to pay the cost of a major repair just for a basic tune-up.
Again, an extremely positive experience. I will probably take any Leica repair work to him in the future. A very professional repair person. He even had some cool Leica magazines for reading in his sitting room
Here is his contact info:

Interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Is he an authorized Leica repairman? And by any chance do you know what is background is?
Cheers!

Yes, he is a Leica-trained technician, though he seems to be retired now. I've read he actually trained Gerry Smith of Kindermann fame.

I have also had a good experience with David. I don't have a car, so it was hard for me to get out to his place. He was very flexible about meeting me elsewhere (i.e., subway accessible places) for pick-up and drop-off. He got my rangefinder back in alignment, adjusted my shutter speeds, and did some other general CLA stuff all for an extremely reasonable price.

Thanks a lot. I have had a very positive experience with Gerry Smith but Kindermann is expensive. I am waiting for my "new" M2 and I was thinking I could send it to Youxin Ye instead but now that I have an address in Canada life is even more beautiful!

i've used Dave for three years now and had nothing but excellent experiences with him in the past... a very fair and reasonable man... and an excellent Leica technician... i hope he never 'retires'

David fixed a M2 prism separation (the viewfinder is dark, non usable) for me years ago. Good service and decent price. He also fixed a M6 minor issue that my friend had - it was not reassembled back properly after service, done by another well known repairman here in GTA.

David also fixes Hasselblad - he did my 500 CM.
