California (Bay Area, Northern) Davis CA Beer 'n Gear

Kent, I'll be there around 8:30. Not sure what to expect... I haven't ridden Cal-Train, ever. Is there a parking lot? Where is the Cal-Train station?

Meetup Time in Emeryville?

I propose the Bay Area contingent meet up at the Emeryville Train Station at about 8:30? The train leaves at 9:05 so this will give us time to snag tickets, load the donkeys on board and prepare for the adventure.

Thoughts? Anyone pre-booking their tickets? If so what return time are you thinking about?

Kent - I'll be there, but I'm a bit miffed about this donkey misunderstanding. To think that I would invite a serious relationship (platonic, of course) with a donkey is utterly ridiculous. My good friend Daisy, is a sheep. A Navajo-Churro to be precise. She has studied at UC Davis with Aldo Antonelli in symbolic logic (google it, if you wish). She and I are looking forward to the trip and the opportunity to continue our discussion about recursion theory. In addition, she plans to bring her black paint M4 and FLE 35mm Summilux ASPH.

Kevin - There is a parking lot as well as a shearing station.

Sheesh, Robert. Now I must do some serious learnin' if I'm going to hold my own in a conversation with Daisy. Assumming of course, that our relationship will be mental.

Candy Lace, China Groove, and I will see everyone at 8:30.

Had a high level meeting with Bingley this morning and we will meet you guys at the train station at 10:30 on Saturday.

Whoops, can't make it.

I found a good ol' Imacon FlexTight & have located all the arcane instructions from the Internet on how to make it work with a modern Mac.

Of course it brougfht down the whole system – made one beautiful scan, then locked up the computer by disabling the mouse. So I plan to start installation all over on Saturday.

Experienced Imaconners please offer advice – when somewhat more sober than on Saturday.

Congrats on the Imacon Kirk! Good luck with the re-instakkation and hopefully we'll see you at the next get together.

Nobody's expressed an interest but I'll put that "modified" Billingham carry bag (mentioned in an earlier post on this thread) in Bingley's car in case anybody wants to see it and maybe even buy it. I may fill it with some other stuff to sell. Photography is so much more than taking photographs...

If nothing else you can pop your new lens in it Bob! I might bring a few extra sale items as well if I have space.

See you tomorrow!

Ah crap. Should have brought the Fuji! I still have a GW690iii that hasn't sold. I'll see you guys Tomorrow.

Hey Kevin

Hey Kevin

That's the one w/ the slightly off RF right? Want to do a straight trade for a Bessa R chrome in perfect condition with box and strap??

amp, normally I'd say yes but I am unemployed at the moment and therefore need cash. Student loans and rent do not pay themselves. :(

Bay Area RFFers to help Kevin

Bay Area RFFers to help Kevin

Let's step up to help Kevin - here's what I propose - if 15 of us donate $20 to Kevin, he can net $300 cash to help him out. He can trade his GW690 for my Bessa R and if he needs to, can sell the Bessa. When things get better he can buys us beers.

Who's up for this?

I grew up in Davis but have not been back since the 80s---can't wait to see the shots. Wonder if emerson junior high is still there. I think the incredible "central" elementary was torn down decades ago.

I saw Brian a couple of hours ago. Was in Looking Glass buying some Tri-X and Xtol. He asked me if I needed anything else, like antibiotics, for instance. When I told him I had taken the train to Sacramento before, he inquired if Daisy was with me then. He said he normally would want to see the pics from the trip, but he's a bit unsure this time. He passes his regards to all.

*shuffles out of the groundhog nest...blinking repeatedly...*

I've been holed up for the past few weeks but I'll be there and I might need some catching up on anyone's police rap sheet.

I'll see you guys at the Emeryville station 8:30.

Bag packed and ready to rock! I have to blow off 24 frames of Velvia...grrr. Hit the freezer and have some APX 100 & 400, should be fun with some wides. Too bad none of you will be able to mount my mystery lenses (mount on the camera Robert!).

To catch you up on one recent development, Robert now goes by the name Ahimsa Winthunder, and he recently had his mug shot in the paper:

Faces of the banned Occupiers.

I'll make sure he takes his meds on the train there, and someone make sure he doesn't eat chili on his burger before the return train. Wind-thunder, I bet.....
