a friday off is a wonderful thing!
it's another e.d.o. - earned day off, work a bit of extra each day and get one day every 2 weeks off - i take fridays.

i love it!

Like backalley photo, I also live in Western Canada (Vancouver, British Columbia). A handful of years ago I worked for the provincial government and the three-day weekend option was available for all unionized employees at my job site. Basically, you worked an extra 45 min per day in order to get every other Friday off. It was pretty nice and I miss it a lot since I've changed jobs. Also, you were only at work for around 7.5 hours normally (this includes lunch) so the extra 45 min wasn't much of a hardship.

And of course, during long weekends due to holidays, you ended up with 4 day weekends which were really great.

What a coincidence! The Yankees and Marlins have the day off too. Must be some karmic juxtaposition of the stars and planets.

francisco,
not self-employed but that would be nice too.
just as lars mentioned, i work a bit extra each day and have the friday's off. i work for a small not for profit agency in edmonton, alberta (about 1400 miles from lars). i get paid poorly but the perks help.

and oldprof,
you are haunting me! lol
yes, it's a travel day for the battling duo.
thanks for the laugh, i'm still smiling...

I am apparently doing something very wrong here.
It's 7pm. It's a Friday. I'm at the office. Work 12 hour days. Will work on some stuff from home over the weekend.

Not fair.

richard,
you probably earn a 'real' salary.
i work hard at my job but there is little to do when i'm not there.
plus, i just could never bring myself to have a job that requires that much time involvement. i need time for me and when i don't get it - well, lets say i get cranky.

That's a nice day, joe... I'm a college professor, so the public perception is that we do no other work except showing up for class and keeping office hours. Nothing further from the truth! In this trade we do something my dad refused to do: take work home. Right now, I'm taking a break from a grading marathon, and when I'm done, I have a lot of class planning... not to mention my research! :(

However, I like my job; not only I'm good at it, it makes me feel useful!

But then, one day off per week wouldn't hurt...

PicGuy, the M6 left for DAG. It developed a light leak :( :(. It was still under warranty, so I contacted Don Chatterton and he told me to talk to Don at DAG, who does his warranty work. That's where the camera is right now... Life still sucks!
