de-magnifier to 0,72 for rd-1

by searching this forum i just found info on magnifieres from megaperls or leica.

my problem ist that i would like a 0,72 magnifier, so i have the same field of view as with my leica m6. looking through the epson makes me feel like looking through binoculars. (ok, joking).

this post is meant serious, so please dont flame me. (also for grammar or language mistakes, i am austrian)

Oliver, your mileage may vary, but for me if the magnification went any smaller for the RD-1 finder, I would have a hard time focusing ANY lens accurately with that rangefinder patch and such a short rangefinder baselength. Forget about anything faster than f 2.0.

I just got the megaperls 1.3 magnifier and my wide open close focusing pictures with my 21mm 2.8 lens has significantly improved. But then again I frame with an auxiliary VF and just use the enlarged RF patch for focusing.

You are most likely asking to reduce the VF for a 28mm lens. I am guessing you may encounter focusing trouble, if you can find the suitable eyepiece.

thanks for your reply. currently i am using a summicron 35mm lens on my rd-1 and as i described in my tread, that i feel like looking trough a loupe. i never thought about the focussing issue. so thanks for that hint.

i just would like to see more of what is going on "around" the selected frameline and it just doesn´t feel right for me to get that "magnified" effect compared to my leica. still i guess i could focus properly, mostly i am shooting at an aperture of 5,6 or above.

Hi Oliver, I think you will have a lot of "misses" with the Summicron wide open if you reduced the magnification any. Maybe go the route of auxiliary VF on top? But then I guess you are not seeing "around" the frame either with one of those. Good luck!
