Howdy all, I am a Firefox user and today it auto updated to version 2.0.0.12 and now Firefox wont go anywhere on the web. It just automatically goes to the "Server not found" page as if my internet was dead. Obviously its not dead because this message is comming to you from Opera (as I refuse to open IE). Anyone out there have a similar problem or anything like this before?

~Colin

ps. I did the firefox troubleshoot thing, didnt work

Maybe you are being censored?
Or Firefox is for being non-compliant?
Mine is working fine this morning, on my MacBook.

I don't use Mac but check your advanced proxy server and port configuration. Also, if you were running a software firewall it may need to be manually made aware of the new browser. And can you go back to your earlier configuration?

Avotius,
it happens to me frequently.
But I don't (and I guess you should not) blame firefox.
In fact I often make a test with the explorer, right after getting the same message, and I obtain the same result.
So suspect: the router (obsolete) the line (and hence the phone company) and the provider.
Of course i am assuming that your PC is in good shape.
I have a recent Dell with Vista Ultimate, a just updated copy of firefox (actually it updates automatically) and a recent Sitecom router.
Cheers
Paul

I forgot,
also try to disable the antivirus software.
There are sites that test the speed of connection. And they make evident that the antivirus (I have avast) reduces the speed by 70%.
Thus I normally disable it. Only before downloading the mail I let it run

Hey, if you've got a wireless router in the system check this:
When you've got a Firefox window open and it won't "go", check out "view source" and see what you find.
I've had problems with my router at home redirecting my searches to "searchportal.com" and when that fails I get a blank page. So if you find that address anywhere in the text under "view source" that may be the problem.
I know it is the router because if I remove the router from the system (i.e. plug the computer directly into the ethernet cable) the problem goes away.
Got a mac to avoid infections and now my router is the problem. You just can't win!

Ok I tried all of the above and none of it worked. I also noticed that Tor cant connect to anything either. Explorer has no problems getting online. Same with opera. The problem started the moment firefox updated. I am looking to see if there is some way to roll it back. I do use a dlink wireless and am on a windows box but have never had a problem, actually the wireless thing is for my laptop which I dont have anymore. My gf is using the older firefox and it works fine.
