I know this subject has come up before, but a search only reveals a thread without answers.

I'm off to NY at lunchtime, working, but my Hexar AF seems dead; '0' is flashing, and shutter button inoperative. It's a new battery, tho I'm off to buy another in a moment. Is this the traditional Hexar shutter button problem? How can I solve it? And if it ain't, can you recommend any NY repairers, perferably around the village, who might be able to turn it around real quick?? TIA...

Revealing as it is, I would rather take a dead Hexar than my M4. Perhaps it's time I acknowledged the latter ain't earning its houseroom...

Nothing to say except that hope somebody will give you an answer soon Paul, have no exp. at all with that camera !

When my dell does that I just leave it unplugged for 5 minutes and all comes back again, but guess it's not suitable for your specific problem 🙂

You've probably tried the most obvious one, but just in case. Take out the battery, leave it out for 15 seconds or half a minute, chant a chant and reinsert the battery. This seems to cure most of my Hexar's problems.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think I had the blinking "0" once or twice too. Maciek

Does it not blink 0 after rewinding a film completely, before you have insert a new one? In that case it sounds it may be a film load problem. Otherwise, try the remove battery as suggested.

Use a meter to check that the new battery is also a good battery.

Flashing -O- is when the film leader is just about to be wound into the film canister. If it remains flashing, you may have inadvertently pushed in the mid-roll rewind button sideways so that it sicks. Had that once this summer. The Hexar went bonkers and kept flashing -O-. Rewound new rolls every time I loaded them. Replacing batteries didn't help. Took a while to figure out. Wiggled the mid-roll rewind button loose, and it fortunately resumed normal operation after that..

Ha, I'm stuck in a Starbucks without my Hexar, but that sounds very promising... I shall try and report back. THanks for the help.
