'deal breaker'

Oh guys!
You don't know how nice your language is. As a native German speaker we love your way to hit the nail. We must sit in meetings and for two of your ****ing words we must hear ten minutes of long mountains of German words!

Recently I've noticed the word "reveal" used as a noun.

Example: Apple has set the _reveal_ of their new iGizmo for next Tuesday.

Why not, 'Apple will reveal their new iGizmo next Tuesday'?

I did find it as a noun in a on-line dictionary as 'the act or instance of revealing' but that does not keep it from grating my nerves.

Another one I'm tired of reading: He "dishes" her. It seems "dishes" is only used w/ respect to celebrities/ athletes/ politicians. Common people can just "criticize".

When that snotty little John Howard was our prime minister here in Oz he constantly used terms with sporting references. Australia's good economic performance was always "punching above our weight." "Being on the back foot" (cricket term) was another one that irked me that cropped up constantly.

'Political speak' annoys me far more than anything I ever read here at RFF. 😀

My least favorite verb-to-noun transformation is the ubiquitous "disconnect." Shudder.
