'deal breaker'

I may be in the minority on this one, but i've hated "functionality" since the first time I heard it. "Function" has always functioned just fine, both as a verb and a noun. Adding "ality" to it just makes it sound ostentatious and silly (IMO).

'Giclée'

As though by using a sophisticated-sounding name could hide the fact that it's just an inkjet print.
"Squirt" would have been more descriptive :p
Google 'giclée and 'ejaculation'. The French meaning is quite revealing, especially about those who use the term 'giclée'.

Cheers,

R.

I haven't seen this one yet...
Watch most interviews on television and somewhere in the piece the person being interviewed will say...."I mean..."...some will actually start their interview with this, others will insert it later...
analog, issue, "I've ran three films through..."
"Touch Base" used to make me cringe...

I'm tired of hearing "at the end of the day". Nothing wrong with the expression except its overuse.

What really irritates me is use of the word "socialize" to mean "communicate". For example:

After the committee settled on the next step, Megan agreed to socialize the plan to management.

There are many ways to express the correct meaning here, but using the word socialize isn't one of them. Socialism is already under attack from the Tea Party. And now business speakers too?

Yes, I agree. Starting a reply with "I mean..." when the speaker hasn't yet said anything to require clarification! Most annoying.

Another irritation for me is when an interviewee is asked a question which should elicit either an affirmative or negative answer, but the reply starts with "Yeah, no...".
When I hear this, I find myself thinking "Well is it Yes, or is it No? Would you please make your bl**dy mind up!".:D
