Just after Xmas last year. Enjoy.

On our return, we stopped at Mono Lake. Chains, snow, quite cold.

That's all folks. All Using M Summicrons 35 v3, 50 DR, and 90 v3, and the occasional 28/1.9 Ultron shot. Cheers,

Roland.

They are sensational shots, ferider. I particularly like the b+w section. Seeing your photos of Mono Lake brings back great memories too.

A couple more that I wasn't so sure about. Feedback would be appreciated (of course on the others, too).

A BW/28 version of the above 35mm color shot:

And two more B+W Landscapes:

Cheers,

I was looking for the 20 mule team in the background. I loved al of the pictures and the stories that use to be on TV in the past were wonderful and it brought back memories.

Interesting shots. Hard to pick a favorite. The grave site was poignant, the tractor was unusual. Thanks for sharing.

I was particularly intrigued by the shots of the moving rocks. Any explanation?

The town of Rhyolite has always fascinated me, particularly how it went from something like 10,000 population to zero over a very short time. I don't recall seeing that Rhyolite Mercantile building before. I must have missed it.

The caretaker guy was quite a character! He had all kinds of stories to tell. :)

Interestingly, when we were there, there was a guy shooting with a Crown/Speed/Super Graphic on a tripod. I chatted with him briefly. Of course all I had with me was the little P&S at the time. :)

Rhyolite is well worth it to visit if you're in the area. There are also some abandoned factory ruins in the area.

Thanks a lot, everybody. Charlie, I have #2 without the people - let me look at the negatives again.

I was particularly intrigued by the shots of the moving rocks. Any explanation?

This was taken on the "Race track". Don't think there is a final word on why the rocks leave the tracks. One theory is that the dry lake floods every so often, and strong wind moves the bolders.

Beautiful shots, Roland. Nos. 2 and 3 in the first bw set are my favorites - lovely tones and they capture the feeling of that part of the world. I love the eastern Sierra around Mono Lake.

I like the use of people in this series as it gives a better sense of scale. You can make up stories about poor lost travelers, or adventure seekers. Great looking shots.

Very nice shots Roland. Couldn't decide a favorite, all of them were good. Liked the wide range of subjects you captured.

Really nice images ... you do this sort of subject material real justice Roland.

Very very nice, Roland. I already commented on some of these on Flickr, but they look great here against the darker background. They're all really good, but I still like the one with the car and the dust trail the best. The color work looks good too. ('D' looks as if she is freezing in that one shot!)

The snow looks a little heavy in some of the b&w shots (maybe a metering issue?). You *might* be able to bring it up in PS. The same with some of the other black and white shots. Seems like they could use a little overall lightening up.

I think your instincts are right on about the second set. The images are not as strong as the others.

You didn't *ride* down there, did you?? That would be a great ride, though.
