California (Bay Area, Northern) December Get Together

Sorry I had to leave early, thus missing the black 'Lambo'*. Could you tell if it was the original paint, or was it one of the Japanese repaints of the chrome version? You can usually tell by looking at the lug nuts.

Three Rollei TLR's at a Bay Area RFF meet-up had to be a first! The "Old Standard" was nice to see. And of course those Zeiss viewfinders are fantastic! A shame Zeiss didn't think of including a histogram display... otherwise I'd be on one of those in a heartbeat.

Idea for a future meeting: meet in Davis on a Saturday to photograph the Mondavi Center, Farmers Market, and a grain elevator style building south of the freeway near Dixon. Mike L. can alert us to other Davis campus architecture. There's a Burgers 'n Brew for lunch and a terrific coffee/pastry place nearby as well. Wide angle "architecture" lenses encouraged and Birkenstocks optional. There may also be a "Ban the Pixels" demonstration going on.
 
Sounds good to me Bob. Davis has the most random assortment of architecture of any campus I've been on. Looking forward to it, and we could coordinate the timing with one of your shows. Happy Holidays, Mike
 
OK, let's do it. Not certain I will have a show to show (location issues to resolve) but we can and should meet in Davis. Let's stay in touch on this and try to get a date set for Jan or Feb. Be well, Bob
 
Me, too. Bob and I have discussed this and it would work best on a Saturday morning when the Davis farmers market is on. I'm booked for the next couple of weekends, but later in January or February would work.

PS, there's another Occupy happening Fri Jan 20 in the financial district. Much better than shooting parades & festivals; it's a 'realer' event.
 
I've never set foot in Davis. I think the restraining order has expired, however, so I should be able to enter. I've never set foot in Birkenstocks, either.

Yeah, it is unfortunate that after you've streaked in the nude (I know you were surprised the Plaubel+strap did not constitute 'clothing') through enough U.C. campuses, the other campuses submit a restraining order. Glad the order has expired and the counseling went okay.

And too bad Kent didn't continue his counseling and community service. If he wasn't in complete denial, we wouldn't have to yell 'STRANGER DANGER!' every time we see him.
 
I'm in Sacramento and would be down for a meetup. I will be shooting downtown tomorrow if anyone wants to meet for a beer.

I've set foot in both and can confirm, both can be grungey, and probably benefit from a good de-loussing after ... 😀
