Some lenses I love more than others. Some lenses are kinda magic with a novel appeal.

Likely my silver 50 Lux ASPH is a near perfect lens, but the 50 Lux-R is not ASPH, although mighty sharp, the appeal is the smooth blend of sharpness and softness that I find balanced and pleasant. Because I own two great fifties is it wrong to say I like one better?

I'm not saying I can't take a great picture with either.

Anyways I see your point. In fact I have been obsessing a lot lately to nail down what I really love the most perhaps for distilling a further cull down. For me this is hard to do because I can find all kinds of excuses to hoard gear. LOL.

In that regard we both have more than we need. In a broad sense I might be imbalanced. How much do I need?

Sometimes I wonder if I really pared down to the basic essentials I might be less distracted. I'm at a turning point where I don'y really utilize my medium format gear that much and it lays around as a novelty.

Also how many film cameras do I need when most or the majority of my shooting now-a-days is digital?

A lot is greed, a lot is sentimental romance, and sometimes even being stubborn.

As crazy as it sounds, if Leica makes me my SLM (SL Monochrom), then I might seriously downsize the "Camera Museum." Perhaps I would just keep my Wetzlar M6 and SL2-MOT... my Rollieflex... and perhaps my GL690 and GM670 just to annoy people. And I forgot my Plaubel 69W Proshift.

In a way since all my Nikon glass can be used on the SL, my Nikon film cameras are like lens caps.

I just got an update on my Piezography Pro order. It seems there is a minor slip in the shipping which is no big deal as I am an early adopter who will be among the first to be able to use this new system. Hard to believe that printing got easier and better.

So far no. In fact the cameras more likely to get culled down are the medium format.

This is my thinking: film has gotten more expensive and will continue to do so; I use the medium format cameras less; and basically I like the portability of the 35mm cameras; and lastly my Monochrom and SL have more than enough detail to print mucho big.

I see more utility is sharing all my small format glass between SL, M-body, and SLR. This limiting of resources is enough to keep me happy and creates analog, digital, and figital capabilities to explore.

Of course I'll have some medium format capabilities, but it is doubtful I require 5 cameras across 4 systems. The likely candidate is the Pentax 67 II kit, which has TTL flash capabilities, so I'm not in any rush to sell because this cabability could be useful.

I'd like getting my hands in one of the top level FF 35mm, which really have some advancements and mucho punch in a small package. Not any soon however.

Got my Texas Leica because I used to be a very meticulous shooter but I had quite some fun with a cheap Nikon AF and reappreciated 35mm's classic gritty look. Plus found a lab that does nice files for not so cheap, however overseas.
I need to do more outings with the 6x9 as its qualities are lovely for environmentals.

Indeed film ain't cheap. Thanks to brexit and low GBP I got a handful of 120 pack of Portra at 5€ per roll, shooting it like a gourmet though. It's my type of chain smoking!

Then printing, large prints would be nice but no idea of what to do with them. Also reminds me that I need a few investments to have a nicer workflow.
Seeing myself with a long awaited job, but no time at all and not that much money either with the low wages around here.

The chronics of your SL and seeing someone's opinion of an RX1rII made me think again of what top level digi has nowadays.

I'm living the dream.

My idea is to simulate the housing crisis: Print big and eventually some rich guy will buy it. LOL.

Perhaps a bit delusional, but some really big things are happening that I can't speak of that are kinda huge. Confidentiality agreements and a gig that if I got a gig like this once a week I could quit my day job and still live in NYC.

Somehow my photography is getting noticed by ad agencies, big brands, and Madison Avenue.

Anyways I hope I get this gig.

Remember us when you become famous! 😀

It could very well be, all it takes is being at the right spot/time, pushing into the right direction and people will come. Then more people, and some of them rich.
Photography is about having fun but it wouldn't hurt it to pay itself (or itself and a penthouse apartment in Madhattan).

So I don't think it's delusional, it could very well happen. We live in crazy times.

Many stupid things went famous and viral after all.

It is very awkward for me to self promote myself. To me it is like publically masturbating: something one should do in private. LOL.

I do not do any social media, well perhaps RFF. LOL.

Anyways if anything good does happen, I want to remain humble, and basically I want to be the same care-free happy guy instead of some jerk who's head is so big that I won't fit in the Javit's Center.

In NYC I am meeting all kinds of people, and I am getting more widely known. Mostly young creatives through Maggie via her blog. She now is very close to 60K followers, and realize that only in January of this year she broke through 10K followers.

Without any credit stuff gets lifted off her Instagram and my photography is getting published in elite magazines all over the world. It seems that every image that gets posted gets 2K-3K likes within 24 hours, and one shot got 5K likes.

Sunday somehow I was being documented by a crew of 8. These were all grads or students from the School of Visual Arts or Parsons School of Design that have created a powerful collective. Basically they are doing a short clip on how Maggie and I collaborate to photograph for her blog.

I don't know if it will happen, but me and my photography was tabled as a possible future production. Things are happening whether I like it or not. One of the producers searched the internet to search for my work and came up blank. At least now I have some small images printed on some business cards I made. LOL.

Anyways it seems my lack of use of social media and not having a web-site really annoys people which is part of my "branding" and trademark.

Just got reminded today. I have to agree about being humble.

I've got a friend, MD by profession but (classical) Musician at heart. He put up a studio for composing centered around a 5K Mac. Oh boy, did I enjoy seeing some of my photos on that huge screen.

Every time he's seeing me lately, he insists in that I should sumbit to contests, print big and end up in galleries!

I'm also a lazy slacker in the fact that do not have online work and I share your opinion about self promotion. It's nice to be appreciated but am not a spotlight guy. Been classifying and ordering files to have a portfolio, because it has to be of course.

It's fantastic to have a profitable side to photography, so the real estate strategy may bring some Trump dollars soon for you Cal.
