If you're doing Bulb mode work from a tripod, the NEX-5 and its IR remote are practically a necessity, since there is no other way to attach a corded remote.

Timed release after 2 seconds or set longer is a menu option. It used to be a tactic to reduce vibration from slr mirror slap in the days before the flood.

Yeah, I know. I'm talking about B mode, which is important to some who do long exposure stuff, like myself.

I got my NEX 5 yesterday and I'm loving it so far. The low light performance is why I bought it over an Olympus E-PL2 and I'm not disappointed. The kit zoom is sharper than I thought as well.
Out of camera JPG.
Intelligent Auto is actually usable, too, so I can see myself using it sometimes. Overall I'm tickled pink. Thank you to everyone who gave me your advice; it's very much appreciated.
Now I just need to get a Gordy's strap!

Nice cat photo. Your cat has the head shape and expression of our orange tabby, but colors of our grey tabby.
