The water from my basement dehumidifier works great as a final rinse water for film. 10 minutes, no spots! I had been buying distilled water from the grocery that was kind of expensive.

hmmmm, I wonder if I could use the water from my rain barrel to do the same.

Don't think so. Rainwater can be pretty dirty. It might be worth a try though.

If you let the rain water settle for a few days and take from the top it should be fine. Rain water by us (lower Wisconsin and Chicago) is VERY dirty.

Cool. I've been thinking of trying this myself. I have my dehumidifier outflow rigged up to fill a water dish for our cats. I'll have to collect some for darkroom purposes (preferably prior to the addition of cat saliva.)
