Anyone tried this combination?

It looks it's the only B&W film I can find in 8x11 format, does Diafine give decent results with it?

Thanks

I like Diafine and find great results with Tri-X at 1000-1600 with it, and even nice results with Plus-X at 400. But if I remember the package does not even give a time for Delta 100, perhaps being a bad combo?

Are you dead set on using Diafine with it? It just sings with D-76 1-1, IMO:

Or are you looking for more speed from it with Diafine?

Not exactly dead-set, but Diafine has a very long life, and being a digital user, I don't develop much film, so a developer with a life of one year+ is a definite bonus, and the only one I know is diafine.

Also I use Diafine with my 35mm and MF stuff, so I'd like to use the same developer for minox as well.

Probably the best developer to use with Delta 100 and very small negatives is Aculux, but it has quite a short life once opened, so for developing the occasional film (10-15 in a year) becomes quite an expensive choice.

Well, a one litre pouch of D-76 powder is only about $5.00, a one gallon one about $8.00. No big loss if you end up not using it within a couple months.

Otherwise, both HC-110 and Rodinal have very long shelf lives. And both would be better for Delta 100 than Diafine I would think.

Diafine is not supposed to be so great with the modern T-grain emulsions like Delta and TMax. But I haven't actually tried it myself.

My favorite developers for Delta 100 are either Rodinal or Neofin Blue. Rodinal lasts forever, so is perfect for infrequent users – it's also very economical.

Neofin Blue comes in tiny individual bottles that last well until opened, but go off very quickly once exposed to air. One bottle does two 35mm rolls or one 120 roll. I'm guessing one bottle would do for each 8x11 sheet, so oxidization is unlikely to be a problem for you.

I haven't tried HC-110 with Delta 100, but it certainly keeps well and would again likely be a better choice than Diafine IMHO.

Probably the best developer for Delta 100 I've ever used was Paterson FX-39, which is no longer available. It is not as good in Rodinal as TMX is, I must admit, but it's damn nice. To be honest, Delta 100 in D76 is a great combination. It really is. And I easily get 10 months out of D76 in a relatively full bottle.

Paterson chems were hard to get in the US even before they had troubles. :-(

It's great with Pan F plus as well, btw.

I used to use Paterson FX-50, but sadly this is one that hasn't been reintroduced. The company had problems getting the chemicals for their products, but have now found a new supplier.

I've used T-Max 100 at IE160 in Diafine and really like the results. If the T-grain in Delta is similar to T-Max then it should be fine.
