Delta 100 EI testing

As promised, here is my test of Delta 100 in different developers. It turns out I did this test a while ago, just never finished it.

Rodinal 1+50, ID-11 1+1, and Perceptol 1+3.

the under exposed shots are more contrasty and my eye prefers them even knowing there is more detail in the other shots.

So, for scanning you want a slightly thinner negative? This is what I do best with, am I correct? On average what do you think the increase in ISO speed should be? 10%? 20%? vs wet printing negatives

You always want a thinner negative for scanning, yes. Scanners don't have the dynamic range to punch through very dense highlights. That's why I shot a scene that was almost entirely zone III - I didn't want to deal with dense highlights (VI, VII or VIII) to throw my scanning off.

Joe - you bring up a very interesting point about subjectivity and contrast. I prefer to scan flatter and add contrast in post. Others prefer to have the contrast to start with. This goes with my thoughts on people's preferences as to the push processing capabilities of TXT vs. HP5, where I think the latter doesn't push well at all.

All - just fyi, I just realized that I used ID-11 1+0, not 1+1. I corrected the blog post to reflect that.

I think I purposely was trying different developers - Perceptol as acutance, ID-11 as solvent, etc.
