the one bummer on a fantastic trip in progress: I'm missing the boat on a Safrotto Domke clone by about a month. Last month I emailed Safrotto about vendors in Thailand and Kuala Lumpur, and they said there was one, Digicolor in KL. I was soooo psyched! So we got here yesterday for a week trip, and besides a lot of shooting, this was one thing I was set on. Went there this afternoon, and all they had were Safrotty bags on wheels, adn other bags with Canon and Nikon all over it. And they can't mail it to me in Thailand. Oh well.

They did, however, have a nice camera repair department, which had a pin wrench to help me adjust my vertical RF. They also had a Fed 5b in a case, I think with an I-61L/D, for 300 ringgit. I thought that sounded high for that, but then I asked about a Mamiya RB67. It had a a lens, but because I was with my girlfriend and shouldn't be shopping for cameras, I wasn't down in the case ogling and checking it out. I asked how much, and he said 1,700 ringgit -- about US$470! My girlfriend gently grabbed my arm and tugged, and I knew to walk away. Someone in the S'pore/Malaysia RFF group, scoop this up!

Anyway, those guys also directed me to a place to get Tmax. I see a lot of the same C41 films you see everywhere in Asia: Centuria, Kodak Ektacolor, Kodak Gold. Also saw a film called "Agfa Malaysia." At 9 ringgit, I'll pick up a few and test it out. I'll be shooting a lot. There's so much, and I absolutely love it here.

bests,
Rick

My friends and I will be making a road trip from Singapore through Malaysia and possibly past the Thai border. We're setting off at the end of April. If we swing through KL, I'll probably go check out Digicolor. Thanks for the tip. 🙂 Will be lugging my Mamiya M645 Pro with me... don't think it'd appreciate the RB67's company.

ooof. I just corrected the prices in my original post -- I think walking away from what sounds like a good deal made it get better in my head. Still, $470 for an RB67 kit sounds good to me. I think I remembered doing the math to make it US400-ish, and then goofed my numbers. Been a long day, with lines at the Thai embassy, and I think I'm coping with keeping GAS attacks at bay. I already found a D200 for $300 less than I bought mine.
