Desilvering

The focussing patch is starting to lighten up a bit on my M3....it's making focussing in low light a little more difficult. Is this something that can be repaired?

Thanks Rover......maybe there's nothing wrong with it after all....just after using the M6 for a while it seems pretty faint on the M3.
After reading about VF separation I'm actually thanking my lucky stars mine's still bright and clear.....

Maybe a good CLA is in order. Has the camera had a service that you are aware of? I am fortunate that mine was serviced about 5 years ago so I am set for a while. The good news is that a CLA will be much less expensive than having the finder repaired.

yes, CLA'd at Kindermann's up here in Ontario lately.....it's dead on in every other respect. I just noticed it was less bright than the M6 and was wondering if this was the beginning of the end.....
Can't see how it could be that big a deal...if it's just a gold-plated mirror that has to be replaced, surely there's lots that can be pilfered from busted M3's, or the mirror could be recoated.
