Hi RML,
Best regards,
I'm not interested in talking to rude people who are personally offensive, so I hope you will understand if I ignore you. (And that's a shame, because I'd quite like to address the flaws in some of your arguments, but I will only discuss things with people who are civil).Wasting resources is wasting money. Even if you don't give a **** about the environment, I'm sure you don't want to waste your precious money when you can prevent it. Or do you burn $$ bills for fun too?
Best regards,

By the way, for anyone interested in saving water, there are quite a few water usage calculators on the web. I've just had a go with this one here...
http://www.tampagov.net/dept_water/conservation_education/Customers/Water_use_calculator.asp
It seems my household uses approx a third of the amount of water as the average Tampa City household (it happens to be a Tampa government site). And that includes washing one film a week (which is about my average). Anyone else want to try?

Ignore all you want, Alan. I just used your quote to address people in general, not you personally. And if you think **** is rude, so be it.

Hi RML,
I understand your concerns about waste, but I don't think blanket condemnation of particular actions is valid - there are different things valid in different circumstances, and actions that are wasteful in some circumstances are not wasteful in others. For example, if I'm living in an area with an excess of water, using water that would otherwise be pouring over the reservoir overflow and running down a river to the sea isn't really wasting anything. Leaving the overflow to run away isn't going to help anyone in a different area who is facing a shortage - the sea certainly isn't short of the stuff.
I accept your point that my film washing is putting more water through the waste processing system when seen as an action on its own, but again that's not a valid criticism of my actions, because my net water usage is very low. I pay my bills and I'm entitled to my share of the resources that that money covers, including water. If I choose to shower once every two days rather than every day, use a low-capacity toilet and only flush when it contains solids ("if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down"), never water my garden, never wash a car (because I don't have one - they're too wasteful), and instead use some of my share of the water (and I'm only using a third of the average person in Tampa City anyway) to process my films properly, then I think I am perfectly entitled to do so.
And you also need to see things in perspective - the waste that I'm apparently being criticised for is *only the equivalent of about half a shower a week*. Now, I know you say your comments weren't intended to be personal, but I'm just presenting myself as an example - you are wrong, imo, to judge people when you don't possess all the facts.
I'd be interested to know how you scored on that water usage calculator, btw.
Best regards,
Alan
It's not the word "****" - obvioulsy I can't even see what it was, it's just that I don't think you should be judgmental about people when you know nothing about them. But OK, I'll accept it wasn't meant to be personal.Ignore all you want, Alan. I just used your quote to address people in general, not you personally. And if you think **** is rude, so be it.

Alan, my results are:
"Every year, your household uses 29565 gallons per capita LESS than the City of Tampa per capita water useage."
For sure, I don't live in Tampa, or the USA. I live in Holland.

That's pretty good."Every year, your household uses 29565 gallons per capita LESS than the City of Tampa per capita water useage."
Me neither (I'm in the UK) - it was just one of the first I came across. For sure, I don't live in Tampa, or the USA. I live in Holland.
