Developing ancient 127?

Found an old roll of exposed 127 film - must be at least 40 years old. Any tips for development? I think my reels have the intermediate step for 127 (it is slightly thinner than 120 isn't it?) Is it just like roll film (i.e. no sprockets)?

Yes it's just like roll film no sprockets and number on the backside paper. So if your reels have got an additional step between 120 and 135 it is 127.

I developed some 35 year old 120 film. The hardest part was getting it loaded on the spool since it had been in the camera so long it wanted to curl real bad.

I have an old Italian "Ibis Ferrania" with pop-out lens that I'd love to try.

Efke 127 is available. In the UK, try http://www.retrophotographic.com/adoxfilms.htm (£2.99/roll). It makes those Yashica 44 TLRs look attractive to me...

Well, its Boots branded Kodak Panchromatic B&W. Yellow backing paper. Boots are an English drugstore, think Walgreens (in that they're known for photo developing and have been for years). Any thoughts as to ISO speed or dev time? I'm thinking of using Rodinal 1:50 but open to suggestions (also have Ilford DDX and LC29 to hand). Given its age (we think its early '60s) is it likely to need careful development?

Well, I've certainly got something out of it 😀

Pre-soaked the film for 20 minutes or so, this resulted in some very yellow/orange deposits being washed out - what would that have been?

Developed in Rodinal 1:25 for 7 minutes @ 23 degrees

Negs look a little thin but have a good tonal range considering. Plenty of edge fog and probably a lost frame at the end as you would expect but recognisable subject matter. Cosmic ray fog is interesting but by no means destroying the shots, can't wait for them to dry so I can scan them 😀

So far have a very happy and excited mother (as its her film from her elliptical Brownie) who now can't wait for me to start scanning :angel:

For North America; Freestyle photo has Efke 127, too. It is just the Efke R100 (ISO 100), $4.39. For some reason they also sell 127 R820 Efke (IR).

Interim results here. Just family snapshots but taken by my maternal grandfather who has been dead for over 20 years so I have a very happy mother 🙂 (Which as all sons know is what its all about 😉

Seriously, I would be interested in seeing 127 film shots from a Topcon. I have a couple of 127 cameras myself (just 'toys') though I've seen some amazing models over the blay.
