Dear all,

Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong section of the forums,

I am fortunate enough to be relocating to the island of Mauritius with work, I will be arriving sometime in September.

There are obviously many pressing issues I am concerned with , not least getting my family settled , kids in a decent school , finding somewhere to live etc etc . But one of the things keeping me awake at night ( haha ) is will I be able to get 35mm film developed and scanned on the island .

I have been getting into shooting film over the last year after tumbling down the Leica rabbit hole , I am really enjoying it . I currently live in Shanghai and I can get most types of film at reasonable prices and get a 36 shot 35mm roll developed and scanned for around $5 US.

Does anyone know if there is a facility there to develop ? Are there any forum members out there who fancy meeting up for a beer or two when I land?

Fingers crossed.

James.

If you are concerned not finding any decent lab, get a small Paterson tank, a bottle of HC110 (If you're shooting BW-film) and bottle of Fixer and Wetting agent, and you'll be managing this on your own?

Thanks Jani

Thanks Jani

I'd rather not do my own developing just yet as I don't really have the time or patience , I also like to shoot colour as well as Black and White . I am not sure I would be able to get the chemicals in Mauritius either .

However , I suspect your suggestion of self development may be my only option if I want to keep shooting film .

I would stop into a few of the large resort hotels if you cannot find any labs on your own and see who they might send their customers film to. I am sure the large hotels and resorts , which hold business conferences, offer this service to their clients. Might be easier to find once you are situated.

The situation may not be so dire after all. Never been there but a quick search on google came up with this. There's Fuji Film Mauritius and "One Hour Foto Inna Leung Studio" among others. There're also pro 'togs. Maybe you could ask them for recommendations over some beers.
Overlapping listings.

Good luck with the job assignment and relocation to paradise.

Thanks for the guidance

I did do a google search , however the term 'developing 35mm film in Mauritius' didn't yield any decent results . I guess I should have been more creative in my search :)

Thanks for giving me something to go on when I get there .
