Developing Problem--Can I salvage this roll?

I developed a roll of film from a trip with my girlfriend last year. After loading the film I clicked the reel the wrong way (releasing it) and quickly clicked it back, apparently the film was all touching itself or something, as the roll came out very very bad. I can see the image on the emulsion side, but there are no clear areas. It looks like the film is still partially undeveloped.

It's been sitting for months and I can't bring myself to throwing it away. should I try redeveloping the roll? The film was already developed once in d76, fixed, etc etc, but is definately not scanable (or printable) in it's current form.

Basically, can I salvage this?

Sounds like there are areas unfixed. Put it back on the reel and run it through the fixer again. Most likely it's trashed but give this a try. Consider this a lesson and part of gaining experience.

Alright. I cut off a strip of 3 negs and put it in a dish of fixer. It's starting to look a little better, but still not quite as well as it should've been. I just loaded all the rest into my tank and put it all in to fix. Guess I'll let it go for a while and check on it periodically. The strip of 3 had a noticeable difference after about 6 minutes (using rapid fix). I left half of a frame out of the fixer so I could see a difference.

Hah. Just scanned the first 3 negs. Definately scannable, although they have a _LOT_ of scratches due to laying on my desk, rolled up, unprotected, for about a year. There are some dark spots, and the negs don't look 'beautiful' but you can definately get the picture 😀
