Development Temperature

I developed a roll of HP5+ in Ilfotec HC for the scheduled time of 61/2 minutes, but misread the thermometer and did it at 76F instead of 68F. The negatives came out a little thin but still usable. I would have expected the negatives to have "more density" rather than less since would they now be overdeveloped with the higher temperature, or am I misunderstanding the effect?

Count yourself lucky. If they are thin, instead of very dense indeed, you did something else wrong as well. If you'd only given them the 6.5 min @ 20C/68F they'd have been unprintably thin, given whatever other mistake you made (dilution? exhausted dev?).

In looking at them again, they seem to suffer from low contrast, and perhaps underexposure(meter could very well be off). But it was a very Oregon gray day with boring landscapes as a result.
But you confirm what I should have expected. Thanks.
