Diafine & Arista.EDU Ultra 400

Arist UDS 100 & Diafine

. . . I find Arista EDU 100 and Diafine to be a excellent combo. . .

I had heard that, and that is why I was surprised with the results for the Arista EDU 400. Freestyle was out of stock when I started this project, and when they get some in, I plan to try out the Arista EDU 100.

I found Fomapan to be slower than the rated box speed.

In any case, you can increase time in part A and develop the film more (and yes it develops in part A, a low density low contrast image that gets finished in part B).

I find that the 100 pushes well to 200 in Diafine, but the 400 needs to be shot at box speed for good results. I have have pushed it to 640, but anything beyond that doesn't turn out too well.

It does look like Arista.EDU Ultra 400, Diafine, and the Flextight scanner will work ok with the box speed. Any higher ISO and the shadows on the test chart start to clip. Attached is my test file (adjusted) On the scanner it shows that only the lower 1/2 of the histogram is covered. Using the "curves" the image is usable. It looks like they rated this film by finding the highest ISO before the black (shadows) clip off.
