Diagnosis anyone? shutter or wind-on?

Hi gang.
First post.
I was wondering if anyone recognises this problem.
I have been given a wonderful opportunity to use a friends old rangefinder, and my first test roll half worked.
One or two exposure showed the full frame, but most of them were obstructed (both to the left and right I believe).
the soft edge might be a clue.
I included the negs so you can see the spacing.
I would really appreciate any wisdom.

Shutter capping? And it seems like residue on the shutter edge. Shows as dark bands or the jagged edge.
No worries, time for a CLA.

Yep. Shutter capping for sure. Assuming you were not poking around under the bottom cap and didn't accidentally detension one of the curtains, either you badly need a CLA (clean, lube and adjust) or something has happened to a shutter curtain or its tapes.

I have not been poking around enough to do any damage. it hasn't been used in a very long time.
I'm not used to focal-plane shutters so I might find someone who can do it for me without buggering it up.

No guarantees but you might spend a few hours (while watching TV?) winding and releasing the shutter, frequently changing the shutter speed. It might just loosen up enough to at least get some fiull frame photos. Still, a CLA wouldn't be a bad idea.

Looks very much like shutter capping on a horizontally traveling FP shutter, but don't disregard the possibility of a bent front standard or sagging bellows - I've seen obstructions look quite like shutter capping...
