did CV nokton 40 mm f/1.4 better than nokton 35 f/1.4?

Hi

question again🙄

I have CV nokton 35 mm f/1.4 but looking to buy used CV 40 mm f/1.4 for use with my M3 because my M3 have problem about mounting and dismount lens. it's too hard to mount any lens on these camera. i sent to store to fix these problem but it's doesn't fix.

so, i looking cheaper lens to mount permanent on my M3 instead😉


now i have many choice and question


if i take 40 mm mount with my M3 i still use 50 mm frameline?

does 35 mm f/1.4 nokton compare with 40 mm f/1.4 or 50 mm f/1.5 form same manufacture?

or i looking more expensive lens like leica 50 mm f/2 summicron to mount on these camera?

5 mm focal lenght from 35 mm to 40 mm or 10 mm focal lenght from 40 mm to 50 mm (leica) did have a big leap in pictures?

or last choice is buy a used nokton 50 mm f/1.5 and use them with M3 permanent? how about this lens compare to 35 f/1.4 and 40 f/1.4?

The 40/1.4 works very well with the M3. Just just the full finder at infinity and the 50mm framelines at close distance. It's a great lens.

The 40 Nokton is a little longer than 40mm, BTW, rumour is its 43mm long.

You should have the mount on your camera fixed, though. And adjusted to
.7m minimum focus.

I actually use my 40mm Nokton as a 35mm on my M6 (I modified the mount to bring up the 35mm framelines instead of the 50mm ones). It works very well like this as I find the 35mm framelines are quite 'tight' on an M6. I'm not sure how they compare to those on the M2, though.

The 35, 40 and 50mm Noktons are all excellent lenses with good contrast, sharpness and flare control. The 35 & 40 are compact for their speed and have very similar signatures. Some people are critical of their bokeh wide-open. The 50mm Nokton is also an excellent lens. It's bigger than the others. Erwin Puts figures that it out-performs the pre-ASPH Summilux 50, which is high praise.
