None of my lenses with square hoods are perfectly aligned. Including Leica lenses. As long as its pretty close to aligned, I don't get too bothered. The images of the hood/lens shown here look pretty darn good to me. Overall the lens looks nice, nice, nice on that M6. The gaffers tape on the dot is kind of funny (I can read "LEICA M6" just to the left of it).
A v4 summicron 35 is one of my top lusted-after lenses right now (along with E46 pre-asph summilux 50). This one looks great. I hope it performs as nice as it looks! I hope we see images from it...

Maybe I'm just tripping. If it really bothers me I'll just send it to Don in January and shoot with a Stylus or something. Yeah I was blown away at the condition it's in and so far shooting with it has been such a pleasure. I'm a one camera/one lens kind of guy and the v3 I had sort of drove me crazy because I hated the aperture ring and focus throw so much. Ergonomics are super super super important to me.

I've had hoods that looked a bit more off than this so I honestly wouldn't sweat it and you did get reimbursed so you're good. I have a feeling that the hood is seated properly but the molding of the hood left much to be desired which makes it look crooked. maybe I should measure the dimensions on mine 😉
