He did something very similar on the Photo.Net Leica group. That's a much less gentle group than this one and he got pretty badly flamed (actually got made fun of, pretty deprecating stuff) and just went away one day.

Geez, this is too bad.
Frank sent me a nice PM a couple of weeks back about "calming down" when I was getting "overwound" about the FID thing.
I appreciated him caring enough.

poor Granovski. Yes, he is/was a hemi-troll at times. He did try to spark discussion, but IMHO he was much gentler at RFF than at photo.net. Of course, I think that the folks at RFF are more tolerant, and less easily provoked that the Pnet folks. The dictum here is to ignore trolls, and let their posts expire peacefully. May it ever be so.

Well I guess they both wanted to move on in other directions. Hope he figures it all out.
He was a nice guy. I remember when he "volunteered" to look up that "lousy" eBay seller out of V-BC who had "screwed" the buyer down in CA (at least I think it was CA - careful here, George, or the "super correctors" will "stomp" you! 🙄 ).

He was a joker, and never offensive. I liked his style, but mostly ignored his jokey provocations.
The fact that he went without saying goodbye, and that his posts are gone would suggest he was banned.
Perhaps the new mods wanted to ban somebody to encourage the rest of us to be on our best behavior?
