and bought a new AF-S 24-120 VR f4 lens.

'twas in Amazon, and they offered financing for 24 months, without interest. The same applied to the Fuji X100 and another Nikon lens I've been thinking about, the AF 80-200 f2.8 (newer version).

Hence, I'll be selling some Nikon gear sometime soon... Why, oh man, why?

Because it was there, and I wanted it. Have you done that too?

Just got myself an F2 for almost the same good reason 😀
(not the financing obviously, but the fact of being there, nagging me...)
What gear are you going to sell?

What the heck Francisco, you only live once (or so we think!). The 24-70 is my personal favorite... jump on it if it's ever applies to one of these deals.

I've never used the 80-200...I'm sure it's super. My 70-200mm/2.8 VR is a terrific lens that I use often.

Enjoy your purchase!

Two items are leaving this house some time soon.

I have a third-version AF-S 24-120, the one with VR and variable aperture. I wanted to replace it since the new version came out, so now it's going to the sale block, in its box and with two nice honking hoods.

Also a nice AF 70-210 f4-5.6 will hit the street. It's too small with my D700, it feels off balance. Granted, nice travel lens, but what's the use if once in my destination it just doesn't feel right?

BTW, I am lucky to have the AF-S 24-70, but it's a bit on the heavy side at times...

Since I haven't done anything like this lately... well, I guess I'm in for a treat. 🙂

My doctor (Psych doc) says I have a serious GAS problem. And eating beans does not cause it.🙂

I just bought two VC Nikon Rangefinder mount lenses here.. when I only really wanted one.. but the combo deal was too good to pass on.. *sigh* Now I'm completely broke until pay day :bang:

Yes, sure -- although I play in a minor league. I just bought two FED-2 rangefinders with Industar-26m lenses for 19 and 22 €.

And I'm looking forward to receiving them like a little boy before christmas. 😀

(That I bought two of them almost at once actually was an unforeseen side effect of the little tool that does my fleebay shopping for me...)

Fate made me do it... I checked Amazon out of boredom, found that the Nikon Coolpix P7000 (which I bought about a year ago) was in the Golden Deals for about $259 or thereabouts, read a banner that said something about Black Friday deals in advance and wondered "Hmmmm, do they have something I want under these conditions?"

Nikon lenses.

The rest is (insane) history.

Delivery guaranteed tomorrow, with one-day shipping thrown in for free. I cannot wait! 😱

Congrats, that 24-120 is on my list too. Be sure and check out the 70-200 VR II it is a dilly and takes the TC20E III very well as a bonus.

Off to Amazon..... Oh, I may hate myself, and not be too pleased with Francisco, if I find something I need, I mean want. 😉

Good move! I have one too. It's a perfect go anywhere lens on a D700. Whilst still slightly on the large size, although nothing like as big as a 24-70, it balances nicely and feels like it was just made as a walk around lens for this camera. Results are very pleasing too.

Thanks, James! It makes me feel less foolish... and I'm glad Ralph didn't quite fall in the same hole I did.

BTW, the lens was shipped. It's coming from IN, so no wonder they guarantee next-day delivery... 🙂 That means tomorrow at this time, barring something really bad, I'll be playing with my new toy!

Probably photographing the items I'm going to sell... 😉

The Beast is here! 🙂

For those who may be familiar with this lens family, the first of them was a major goose (it was pretty cooked), the second was an improved version with variable aperture (like the first) and VR. One thing to mention is that it was paired with the D700 (something loads of people objected, but leave it to the Nikon purists to complain). This is the third try, and it has the perfected VR system... and constant aperture!! It's all the way an f4 lens, which even though it sounds like slow, it's a blessing on a lens of this range.

This one is bigger and thicker than its predecessor. I don't think it's any better but at least we're back into the realm of lenses with 77mm filters (allows me to use the same set in all my Nikon gear). Besides, it feels heftier. My first samples were not totally satisfactory, but then, I was not expecting lack of distortion in a lens wide an end at 24mm.

In any event, I like it. In fact, I'm seriously reconsidering my travel plans, and I may take my D700 with this monster instead of my P7000. The Leicas are coming, regardless...

Thanks for your patience! 🙂
