Very similar cameras. Main difference is that the IIF has a side-mounted flash rail, while the IID doesn't.

Or more generally, IID line has no flash capability, and the IIF line can use bulb flash (there's no X-sync for electronic flash until the IIS.). The IID is slightly earlier, though production overlapped. The IID had a much smaller production run; the IIF was produced in larger quantity primarily for the export market, so you should expect to see the <E.D.> export mark. I've heard said that the IID is a solider build, but have nothing more to back that up.
