difference Velvia 100 / Velvia 100F

Hi!

does anybody know about the difference between these two actual Fuji slidefims? Is one of them easier to scan? Contrast or colorsaturation?

The colour's a bit different. I find that Velvia 100F has a bit of a purplish tint to it in some light situations. Velvia 100 was a poor attempt at being a faster speed replacement for the (then) discontinued 50. It really lacked the saturation the 50 was famous for and IMO wasn't too much different from Provia 100F (which I do like). I can't say I was ever pleased with anything I shot with the 100 and definitely preferred the 100F of the two emulsions. Many people really seem to hate the 100F, but I quite like it.

I never tried Velvia 100, but I read several other places that it was supposed to be a faster version of Velvia 50, like Derrick said. I've shot a lot of Velvia 100F and I agree with Derrick on that too. It's definitely cooler than Velvia 50. I like it, but I think it should be used carefully. IMO, Velvia 100F comes closer to the "Disney Color" reputation than Velvia 50, but some may dissagree. Velvia 50 seems pretty accurate, but very saturated.

One other thing.... With my Coolscan, I've had better luck scanning 50 than 100F. I can never seem to get the colors to scan as they appear on the slide with 100F.

I've found that Velvia 100 emphasizes blues, Velvia 100F is slightly more saturated than Provia 100F but not as much as Velvia 100, the new Velvia 50 is just like the old one (strong reds and yellows), and Fortia 50F is a cross between Velvia 100 and the new Velvia 50 but on steroids.

After messing around with all these films for the last four or five years, I've gone back to shooting mainly Provia 100F and Provia 400X unless I'm after a specific look.

I had the same problem with my K-M Dual IV. Very annoying.
