Trying to remove the central collar to release the frame counter ring and winder lever.....
The central collar is a left handed thread. So if you tried to unscrew it by turning it anti-clockwise, you actually tightened it.
I did this to mine. When I finally got to turn it the correct way, I discovered that I was operating against the gear chain in the winding mechanism. This is what gave way in mine.
If it is the threaded ring that you need to remove, you will have some choices to make before you damage the gear assembly.
Ultimately, I cut across the top of the ring, next to the button, giving enough clearance to miss the threaded shaft inside. It was easy to remove then. You will of course, need a replacement......
