I would like to buy a uv filter for the D2 but it seems no one makes the 69mm filter. Am I force to buy the leica 69mm UV filter for $150?

There is (or was) someone else making that filter, but it was still $110 IIRC. Heliopan, I think.

I have bought a converter ring from 69 to 72mm on ebay for 16 punds including shipment.

with that you can use the much more common (cheap) 72mm filters.
Even if you would buy one ring per filter it would be a good deal.

If you use the converter the lens hood will not fit. I can recommend the Heliopan filter. It is nearly flarefree.See the picture The spot in the sky is a " sundog", comparable to a ring around the moon, so that "flare"is situated about 15 km from the camera . The only flare from the filter is in the lower lefthand corner.

I just looked on the Panasonic website, it seems they make only a ND filter, I didn't find any other filters listed......

Adorama has the 69mm Heliopan UV filter for $76.95 Here
Apparently purpose made, Therefore useable at the wide end of the
zoom without fear of vignetting :D

This might be a bit late regarding this matter, i have a digilux 2 since it first came out so more than a year now i think. Filter is a BIG annoying problem.

I went to a panasonic show room and they say if you want to get a filter, they don't have it and you can only get the Leica one.

At the end of the day, i just went hunting for the cheapest one i can find. At where i am from, i found ones for USD $115.00
