besides I am very tall and have huge paws. thus a NEX wouldnt make any sense at all. I want a camera, not a credit card with a battery in it![]()
Not sure, if you can be happy with the OM-D then. Even with normal sized hands like me a ball-pen sometimes comes in handy to press some of the buttons sometimes... Also the shutter-button is hard to reach, if you hold the camera with one hand. I missed quite a number of shoots because of it. Which is, why I prefer a RF with good ergonomics if quick reaction times are necessary.
You should really get your hands on the cameras you consider.

well from the looks i thought the omd would be bigger actually... thats why i even considered it.
but i suppose the xpro1 is bigger..
seems like its a choice between 2 now...

Hi Marc, I'm in a very similar position having to decide how to complement my film kit for the times when I need digital. I have a Leica x1 of which I'm satisfied but sometimes need a more flexible camera (mainly I need sometimes a tele) and I'm leaning towards the OM-D (with a 45 -90 eq 1,8). it is possible the Xpro1 has a better image quality (larger sensor with a new pattern) but I'm not sure if this is visible on the size I usually print (not larger than A3+).
If you shoot raw the Fuji Sensor gives some difficulties to postproduce. But the jpgs out of the camera are really good. The OM-D is smaller which is a plus for me (I have small hands). The real problem is that it is not possible to test a camera before buying it, at least where I live. In a shop they even did not have a charged battery to switch on the camera...

that sounds sad... but i can understand your situation... today I got a ruler and just measured the sizes of the cameras on a piece of paper with a pen and the OM-D is too small... I even thought about a Nikon D600 with 50 1.4 (or 1.8) G and 85 1.8 G....
I'm really confused and I hope it really gets better when I test the D600 which is in town. besides the visit to the leica factory in solms on tuesday/wednesday and the half-day-use of one of their cameras (I will pick the M-E/M9 for sure... cant afford MM/M/S) might also change my mind again
kinda funny how we both use film and have a fixed 35mm equiv digital though

Get the Fuji EX-1. It comes in pretty chrome and is smaller and possibly faster than the X-1Pro. And there are a lot of MF lenses you can attach to it with the right adapters, including Leica M mount.

The other issue for you may be in-body image stabilization (IBIS). Mu-43.com has an interesting informal test:

OM-D and GXR M-module have become my standard street shooters, Sony RX100 the travel camera.

well I've just come back from the Leica factory and I think it's definitely going to be a Leica M... dont know yet if I cheap out with a M8 or go for a good deal on a M9... more likely for the latter I guess.
dont really need image stabilization, my hands are steady enough to shoot 50mm hand held at 1/30 and very rarely at 1/15..
it seems like Leica got a new customer... seen pretty much everything they got including the building site of the new factory, really exciting
