Digital andfilm in the rest of the world

Hi,
I am wondering if someone could tell me how big use of digital cameras is outside the US. Obviously it's a technology that's growing in popularity but I still think that the cest of digital cameras might prevent them from becming dominant in some parts of the world.
Recently I spoke to a friendfrom Idia and he told me (from his own experience) that film photography is deffinitely the dominant format in India. I can understand that digital is dominating photography in many countires of N. America, Europe and parts of Asia. But what's the tren in the rest of the world?

I'd say any place in the world where personal computer ownership is high, you'll also find high digital camera usage and low film usage.

Two years ago, on board of a big Turkish ferry crossing the Bosforus, full of tourists from all the world, I remind camera holding people dividing among 3 categories:
a) Film cameras: about 40~50 percent
b) Digital cameras: about 40~percent
c) Cellular phone camera freaks: about 5~10 percent.

But here in Jerusalem it is another song:
a) American toursits: ~90% digis
b) Israeli consumers: 99% digital
c) Israeli pro's excluding news and wedding photographers: ~70% film
d) Japanese tourists: ~50 % film

here in china most of the non photographer people use pocket digital cameras, around my school almost all of the pro photo teachers use film, medium format and large format, I dont think many of them used 35mm, a few that I can think of, but mostly large format sinar cameras or hasselblads and mamiyas. In the very nice chinese photography magazine almost all the photos are on film.

Here in South Texas Digital is all the trend. Friends of mine and even family like the digital cameras. I for one prefer film. I just feel film give me time to think and compose the picture before taking the picture. Its a slow process but I enjoy taking my time and composing. I guess it the painter in me.
