In the second middle of the 20th century, a lot of people of different parts of Spain came to different parts of the Basque Country and Irun was an important arriving city.
In 1940 there were 15000 persons living in Irun. It was one year after the end of the Spanish Civil War. In 1970 there were 45000. Today there are around 62000.
It was a big change for people who lived in Irun... for example, their language (basque) was forbidden.
And another change were the big buildings for all that people that came from another parts of Spain. Here you have an example of big buildings and the small (old) ones.
